Employment, Productivity and Innovation
The main objective of various projects carried out at GRADE in this area has been to assess the economic impacts of labor legislation and its effects on the hiring of temporary workers, on employment rotation and mobility, or non-salary labor costs and on the demand for formal employment. Additional issues include the insertion of youth in the labor market, self-employment rates, the role of micro and small-scale enterprises in employment generation, and policies for driving innovation in the country.

La importancia de las prácticas preprofesionales en la transición al empleo. Un estudio en las ciudades capitales del Perú
2018 Luciana de la Flor
Professional unemployment and underemployment are problems that affect thousands of Peruvians. Their incidence is generally attributed to a mismatch between labor demand and supply. University education does not guarantee a job appropriate to the academic level obtained. Pre-professional internships are a low-cost, high-impact intervention to attack this problem. Far from being a government intervention, many […]

Pathways to Formalization: Going Beyond the Formality Dichotomy
2018 Juan Jose Diaz, Juan Chacaltana, Jamele Rigolini, Claudia Ruíz
Too often, academics and policy makers interpret formality as a binary choice and formalization as an irreversible process.
