The political analyst Fernando Rospigliosi gathers data by our senior researcher Hugo Ñopo on teacher salaries between 1950 and 2016, to explain the decline of salary in this sector, on the sidelines of the teacher strike: “According to data from Hugo Ñopo and GRADE, the average salary of teachers at their best, in the first government of Fernando Belaunde, was slightly more than 10.000 soles per month (38.142 dolars per year), which with ups and downs lasted until 1974, the end of the government of General Juan Velasco”.
