Is it feasible to increase the teacher salaries in the public sector? Hugo Ñopo shares his thoughts
Raising teacher salaries requires adding between 1 and 2 extra percentage points of GDP to 3.8% of the state budget currently allocated to education sector. This is the thought of Hugo Ñopo, senior researcher at GRADE, gathered by El Comercio. Hugo also pointed out that these salary increases should be linked to evaluation results in order to safeguard the meritocracy of teaching career.
