Bangkok: Members of GRADE joined the Think Tank Initiative 2018 as panelists and workshop participants

After almost a decade of organizational support, the Think Tank Initiative brought together representatives of think tanks, policymakers, donors and other research-to-policy actors for a final Think Tank Initiative Exchange to mark the last year of the program.

This Exchange built on a decade of TTI lessons, experiences and insights on the challenges of building and sustaining policy research organizations that are able to maximise the quality and effectiveness of their contributions to policy processes and to improve development outcomes in their countries and their regions.

Our researchers joined the event as panelists and workshop participants.

In the second day, in the Marketplace, Ricardo Fort was on charge of GRADE’s booth. Our participation focused on the advances of our new research area Urbanization and Sustainable Cities. Ricardo’s speech won as the best pitch at the TTIX.

During the first parallel sessions, Ricardo was a speaker at the session 4 on urbanization and sustainable cities; Lorena Alcázar was a panelist at the session 11 on gender in think tanks, were she shared the work of Grupo SofíaMiguel Jaramillo was a speaker a the session 16 on the challenges and experiences on the way think tanks positioned theirselves at a local or global level.

In the third day, Santiago Cueto was a panelist at the session 18 on the fourth industrial revolution. At the same time, Lorena was a speaker a the session 20 on the design of evidence-based policies.

Likewise, on the next two days, Lorena and Santiago were part of the Southern Voice research workshop. Our institution is member of the initiative and currently is conducting the Peru’s study case on the state of the Sustainable Development Goals [Read Poor education and precarious jobs in Peru].  In parallel, our coordinator of communications, Paula Pino, joined the Southern Voice communications workshop.
