This report presents an overview and the main findings of the study “Promoting Gender Justice in Care for Older People in Poor Brazilian Communities,” carried out by the Brazilian Care Association (Frente Cuidadosa) in collaboration with the Social Assistance and Human Rights Secretariat and the Health Secretariat of the Municipality of Belo Horizonte between June 2024 and August 2025.
This project evaluates the potential to promote gender justice through an innovative intervention. The Maior Cuidado Program (PMC) has been operating in the city of Belo Horizonte since 2011. Since 2023, it has expanded to other locations in Brazil, with support from the Ministry of Health and the local governments of Salvador (BA) and Contagem (MG).
