Escobal, J. y Ponce, C. (2007). Liberalización comercial, tratados de libre comercio y pobreza rural. En Investigación, políticas y desarrollo en el Perú (pp. 67-100). Lima: GRADE.

The paper is divided into four sections, in addition to this introduction. The next section presents a brief summary of the international literature on the impacts that trade liberalization could have on poverty and income distribution in rural areas. Then, in section 2, we present some results of the evaluations of different authors on the impact that the Free Trade Agreement with the United States (FTA) could have on Peruvian agriculture and on the welfare of rural households. In the light of this literature review, the last two sections of the document reflect on the policy agenda and the research agenda that needs to be developed.
