Presentation
In the past years, the international development sector has increasingly focused on applying market-based development strategies, including impact investments and the social creation of enterprises in Small and Growing Businesses (SGBs) in an attempt to face development goals that cover from the generation of income and employment to sanitary and education services. The assumptions behind impact investments and the creation of SGBs are that they constitute a more economically sustainable development model, more efficient/effective in the use of capital, enabling a better approach to meet the needs, interests and realities of the poor. However, these assumptions have yet to be empirically contrasted. In this context, this study seeks to identify the impacts that SGBs that operate in the Peruvian Andes have on the income levels and quality of life of the households where they are developed.
