On January 28 and 30, 2026, more than 100 representatives from public and private institutions, social organizations, agricultural producers, neighborhood associations, mining unions, indigenous representatives from FENAMAD, COHARYIMA, ECA Amarakaeri, OJEIMAD, and native communities from the districts of Huepetuhe and Madre de Dios exchanged ideas and proposals for the development of the province of Manu, in the presence of its provincial mayor, Cirilo Espinal SuΓ‘rez, and the district mayors of both localities.

During two days of participatory workshops to formulate the Concerted Local Development Plan (PDLC) for the province of Manu to 2040, participants expressed the challenges and pending agenda according to their priorities and aspirations on issues such as: citizen security, governance and institutional strengthening, education, health, economic development, agricultural activity, infrastructure and basic services, the environment, natural resource management, and children, youth, and the family.

At the event, FENAMAD also shared the communities’ life plans to the provincial mayor and district mayor of Madre de Dios.

The development of both workshops was accompanied and supported by: Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) Peru, the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law (SPDA), Amazon Conservation (ACCA), and the Group for the Analysis of Development (GRADE) through our β€œResilient and Fair Amazon” initiative team.

The contributions of the participants are valuable inputs for the formulation of the Manu PDLC 2040 and for the territorial development of the province of Manu.
