María Fernanda Rodríguez, a research associate at GRADE, participated yesterday in the international congress of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), which is currently being held in Paris, France.
This year’s congress focuses on the theme “Republic and Revolution.” According to the event’s website, it is “an opportunity to reflect on Latin America and the Caribbean as a whole and in relation to the broader global forces that have shaped our world over several centuries.”
María Fernanda was part of the panel titled “The Production and Reproduction of a Region: Education as a Critical Site in Shaping Latin America.” Her presentation was titled: “Proximity to Whiteness: Enclosures, Emulations, and Aspirations in Private Schools from the Mid-Twentieth Century in Lima, Peru.”
