Who chooses to study education in Peru? What do we know about the quality of teacher-training programs in Peru and the region? Why do teachers prefer nearby and urban schools? What impact does this have on educational equity?
These questions were discussed at the technical workshop “The Teaching Profession in Peru: Evidence, Assessment, and Policy Priorities,” organized by the Inter-American Development Bank and GRADE on Thursday, August 13.
Over the course of a full day, representatives from the government, academia, multilateral development organizations, and civil society presented analyses and shared experiences regarding the teaching profession, from the recruitment stage through continuing professional development.
