The specific objectives of this work are: a) to gather a significant part of the best research produced, especially in recent years; b) to take stock of the studies identified, arranging them by areas and topics and, as the case may be, establishing contributions and limitations; c) to formulate a sufficiently broad agenda within each thematic area, subdividing it into topics considered priorities by the authors of the study; d) to propose more specific research that can be carried out from different multidisciplinary approaches; e) to offer designers and executors of economic and social policies, as well as institutions promoting development, a guide to what the authors consider to be the most important research topics at the present time. The research areas included are: poverty and income distribution, education, health, employment, centralism, environment and natural resources, regulation, macroeconomic policy and growth, international economy and economic indicators: methodological aspects.
