Jaramillo, M. y Sparrow, B. (2014). Crecimiento y segmentación del empleo en el Perú, 2001-2011 (Documentos de Investigación N° 72)Lima: GRADE.

The division between formal and informal employment is a notable feature of the Peruvian labour market. Policies implemented to reduce the size of labour informality, such as the expansion of the regime for micro and small enterprises, have not had a significant effect.

This study investigates the effects of the long cycle of employment and income expansion over the last decade. Using data from the ENAHO 2001-2010, it identifies how labour market performance, institutions and policies have affected labour market segmentation during this period. In addition, it documents the significance of the formal/informal duality in terms of job quality indicators.
