“Young adolescents should not continue thinking that the beginning of sexual life should be linked to an early union, although the report mentions that in Piura many girls are robbed, others take an active part in the decision. They asked to be robbed, they did it because they wanted to avoid the social sanction before an active sexual life”. This is a comment by Vanessa Rojas, Adjunct Researcher at GRADE and coordinator of the qualitative component of Young Lives Peru on the Plan International and UNFPA Peru study, “Peruvian adolescents in marriage or union: Traditions, challenges and recommendations“.
