Damonte, G., Glave, M., Vergara, K. y Barrio de Mendoza, R. (2018). ¿Protección social adaptativa? Desafío para la política en el Perú. Lima: GRADE. Documentos de Investigación, 88.

Peru is one of the countries most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. In response, the Peruvian government has designed and implemented early warning and adaptation programs. However, climate change policy can be improved through the integration of social protection programs with climate change prevention and adaptation programs. This policy is known as adaptive social protection.

Based on a case study in the Mancomunidad de Tres Cuencas, in Ancash, this study explores the behaviors of the social programs Juntos and Pensión 65, as well as their contribution to climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. Finally, an information system is proposed to contribute to the design of an adaptive social protection policy.
