Young Lives (YL) is a long-term international research project about childhood poverty based at the University of Oxford that integrates cutting edge research with local, national and international policy analysis engagement.
The project seeks to a) improve understanding of the causes and consequences of childhood poverty and to examine how policies affect children’s well-being and b) inform the development and implementation of future policies and practices that will reduce childhood poverty. YL is tracking the development of 12,000 childrenin Ethiopia, India (state of Andhra Pradesh only), Peru and Vietnam through quantitative and qualitative research over a 15-year period (2000-2015). YL has been following two groups of children per country since the beginning of the project: 2,000 children in each country who were born in 2000/01; and 1,000 children in each country who were born in 1994/95.
