The study on supply and demand for teacher training is a response to a growing concern to improve the quality of education in Peru.

When talking about the quality of education, it is necessary to evaluate teachers and teacher training institutions. This paper analyses, on the one hand, the composition and main characteristics of the supply and demand of teacher training and, on the other hand, the composition and main characteristics of the supply and demand of teachers, and determines whether or not there is an oversupply of teachers in the market. Thus, there are two main objectives of the study.

On the one hand, to analyse the supply of and demand for teacher training, establishing, as far as possible, differences between education faculties and public and private ISPs, in terms of their main characteristics and an approximation of the quality of the service they provide.

On the other hand, to study the supply and demand of teachers in Peru in terms of the main characteristics of teachers; the profile that a teacher should have and whether there is an excess supply of them, in general terms, by speciality and department.
