Peruvian labor analysis has focused mainly on its static dimension. Thus, the focus has been on indicators such as the number of jobs generated; unemployment, occupation or participation rates; job allocation by sector or formality, of unemployment, occupation or participation; the allocation of work according to sectors or formality condition. These indicators provide a view of the results – that is, the stock – but not of the processes, the flows. Thus, the analysis of employment according to the stock hides a dynamic that is relevant for an adequate understanding of the problems of the world of work. This text seeks to contribute to fill this gap in analysis. Thus, this study presents findings that have implications for labor market policies, employment protection, social security and social benefits.
