This article discusses the role of the initial conditions and of the policies promoted by the government to counteract the negative effects of the pandemic on the Peruvian population. Various public policies are analyzed under the some dimensions such as the implementation of the test campaign, contact tracing and privacy policies. Finally, five areas for improvement, or changes in focus, in national policy are proposed.
