Asenjo, A. & C. Sembler (2026). Community co-responsibility in care: evidence from the ‘Chile Cares’ Community Care Centers.[Policy brief]. Project Initiatives to Strengthen Care Policies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
This policy brief presents the main findings of a study conducted in 2025 aimed at identifying the conditions that promote or hinder community co-responsibility in the CCCs across four territorial contexts. The research was conducted by the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Chile, with the active collaboration of the Undersecretariat of Social Services of the Ministry of Social Development and Family, and the Kuidadores CAM Foundation and the Yo Cuido Association, both representing caregiver organizations. The findings reveal substantial gains in emotional well-being, reduced isolation, and recognition of care work, while community co-responsibility remains in its early stages and is shaped by territorial conditions that the program cannot always guarantee.
