Repeated incidents in mining operations in the Aconcagua river basin have generated uncertainty in the population about water quality, which has deepened the water crisis in the Valparaíso region. In this context, it is necessary for the State to improve its crisis management protocols against environmental accidents, through the inclusion of local actors. A coordinated response between institutions and communities could prevent the deepening of the social conflict.
