From their visits to classrooms, the authors offer useful elements for analysing what is happening in various areas of this Peruvian educational field: how do discourses on Peruvian history acquire meaning according to the institutional context in which they are taught, how do individual social circumstances influence the implementation of bilingual education programmes, how much and in what way do measures to improve teaching relate to the context and the protagonists of the process? How much and in what way do measures to improve teaching relate to the context and the actors involved in the process?
This valuable enquiry is based on the need to look at the micro level of organisations in order to understand the real interaction between policy makers, local actors and the context.
