Presentation
CGD Europe is carrying out a comparative research project on the educational policy preferences of officials and decision makers in 20 countries of the Global South, with an emphasis on educational financing and the gender approach. In this framework, GRADE will implement the surveys for the Peruvian case to members of Congress, and officials from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
The research questions are the following: (i) What are the views and preferences of politicians and public officials in developing countries in relation to spending on education and political interventions?, (ii) How do beliefs and gender norms in investing in girls’ education?, (iii) How do political economy factors, such as time horizons, policy visibility and bureaucratic structures, influence preferences related to spending on education?
The project is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
