Presentation
The Intermediate Evaluation of the PFSI forms part of the Evaluation Project of USAID in Peru, where GRADE participates under an agreement with Partners for Global Research and Development (PGRD). The PFSI started its activities in Peru in 2009, seeking to strengthen forestry governance in the country and comply with the commitment undertaken in the Agenda of the Free Trade Agreement between North America and Peru. The PFSI intervention strategy includes the direct collaboration of the U. S. Forestry Service (USFS) with the public offices responsible at the different forestry management levels, in particular, the national forestry authority (Forestry and Wild Fauna Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture) as well as the regional environmental authorities. In this respect, the evaluation will seek to identify the mechanisms through which the PFSI has contributed to improving forestry management so as to offer recommendations for its consolidation and improvement during the last years of the initiative.
