Presentation

The conduction of specialized socioeconomic studies seeks to contribute towards the consolidation of the design and implementation of territorial management instruments by the Regional Government of Loreto (GOREL). The main activities in a 12-month                                period will be: first, in the case of the province of Alto Amazonas, to complement the specialized studies on regional financial dynamics and changes in land use, aiming at building a comprehensive information system for the Land Use Planning of the Province; second, to analyze the social and economic conditions where the expansion of oil palm cultivation is framed at regional level.

This research will be performed under an agreement with Derecho, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (DAR) and in collaboration with Instituto de Estudios Peruanos (IEP.)  The reports jointly prepared by GRADE and IEP will constitute an input for GOREL to implement, with the contribution of DAR, a Strategic Environment Evaluation (EAE) of their Regional Concerted Development Plan (PDC.) Financial support is granted by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation of the United States of North America.
