Areas : Rural development and agriculture
Researcher/s in charge : Ricardo Fort
Execution time:March 2014 - July 2014

Presentation

The study seeks to determine the potential of the agricultural value chains (CVA) in Peru as an instrument to fight against rural poverty, through the creation of new income generation opportunities for rural households in these conditions. Secondary information on CVAs currently operating will be used, as well as the 2012 Agriculture and Livestock Census (CENAGRO) database in order to map and classify all chain producers, to then try an approach to the impacts they may be generating. The study results will serve as policy instruments for the public sector and for international organizations and NGOs, seeking to understand the mechanisms, possibilities and type of interventions that may contribute to a greater inclusion of rural households and producers in poverty situation in the benefits generated by the CVAs.
