Presentation

The main objective is to reconstruct the development vision of the Amazon region building upon the public policies of the transportation and energy sectors implemented in the period 1960-2011, within the context of the large-scale investment projects, such as the IIRSA axes and the mega hydroelectric plants under the Peru-Brazil Energy Integration Agreement. The analysis will consider critical issues of the situation, such as the debates related to the new Forestry Act, the Previous Consultation Act and the ecologic-economic zoning process in the region.

The study is being executed jointly by the Institute of Peruvian Studies (IEP) and GRADE, with the support of the Betty and Gordon Moore Foundation (U.S.A.).
