Presentation
As part of the actions of the Peruvian government to fulfill its commitments under the Paris Agreement (2015), and commissioned by the General Directorate of Climate Change and Desertification (DGCCD) of the Ministry of the Environment (MINAM), GRADE is carrying out consulting for the “culmination of the strategic social and environmental assessment adjusted to REDD + actions and an environmental and social management framework adjusted to the current national context.” The objective of the study is to review, update and complete the Strategic Social and Environmental Assessment (SESA, for its acronym in English), as well as the Environmental and Social Management Framework (MGAS) for REDD + actions within the framework of the National Strategy for Forests and Climate Change (ENBCC) based on the environmental and social legislation applicable in the Peruvian context. The study will also contribute to consolidating the national approach to safeguards for REDD +, thus allowing for the achievement of national commitments on safeguards both for REDD + as well as for other international organizations.
