Presentation
The discussion on an IDB rural development strategy that proposes clear guidelines to guide the financing of programs and projects and that overcome sectoral perspectives, at the same time that they articulate the different relevant actors to solve the problems of rural areas in Latin America, it is not without antecedents. However, and despite various attempts to generate strategies of this nature along the way, it does not seem possible to achieve consensus to ensure successful implementation. The proposal of this note seeks to build on these experiences and their lessons learned, to propose new guidelines towards the formulation of a development strategy that internalizes the importance of the diversity of rural areas in Latin America, and allows to effectively guide the Bank’s policies to the different countries and rural territories of the continent.
