Rethinking pensions: How to leave behind ‘Bismarck’?
To protect workers and not jobs. This is the proposal that Hugo Ñopo, senior researcher at GRADE, shared at the III Forum Dialogues for Development. Based on the work that Santiago Levy developed in Mexico, the idea is that people contribute to their pension fund through their purchase, so that part of the VAT they pay should be allocated for pension purposes and constitutes a retirement fund. Thus, even informal workers may have a pension.
