Poverty in Peru rises for the first time in this millenium
Monetary poverty rose one point in 2017 -the first increase of this millennium- according to the National Household Survey of the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru. Regarding these results, our senior researcher, Hugo Ñopo, warns that now we are a country with more urban poor than rural poor, a new challenge for policy design: “Combating urban poverty is more difficult than combating rural poverty, due to the targeting.”
