Patricia del Río’s op-ed highlights Lorena Alcázar’s study on the economic impact of anaemia in Peru
Journalist Patricia del Río warned about anaemia numbers reported by the 2016 Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud Familiar (Demographic and Family Health Survey): “More than 40% of children under 3 years have anaemia”, and highlighted the main finding of Lorena Alcázar’s study on the economic impact of this disease in the country: the cost of anaemia for Peruvian society reached approximately S/2.777 billion during 2009-2010.
