Manuel Glave criticizes Minagri’s procedure to solve the potato producers’ strike
The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri) announced an upcoming emergency decree that would authorize the regional governments of Huancavelica, Huánuco, Apurímac, Ayacucho and Junín to buy surplus potato production and allocate it to social programs. This as a solution to the strike of potato producers drived by the fall in the price of this tuber. However, our senior researcher, Manuel Glave, said: “With what criteria do you buy the surplus from potato producers and not from onion or clothing? From a strictly technical point of view, it is not an adequate effort.” His opinion was gathered by El Comercio.
