Patricia McLauchlan de Arregui
Patricia McLauchlan de Arregui graduated in Sociology from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She obtained her MA and concluded her doctoral studies in Sociology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She has worked for GRADE as a Senior Researcher since 1985 and was Executive Director of the institution between 1988 and 1998.
Her research centers around educational policy, having carried out diagnostic studies on diverse aspects of higher technical education, Masters studies and university education in Peru. She has also conducted work to evaluate and measure school performance. Currently she coordinates a Working Group on Standards and Evaluation within the Program for the Promotion of Education Reform in Latin American and the Caribbean (PREAL). She has undertaken consulting assignments for various international organizations, as well as the Ministry of Education in Peru.
She has been a Member and Director of the National Education Council, and a Member of the Fulbright Commission Board in Peru. She has also participated in the Management Committee of the School for Principals and Education Management (EDYGE) of the Peruvian Institute for Enterprise Administration (IPAE) and in the Board of the Institute for Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training (IPEBA). She led the Strenghtening the Education Management in Peru – FORGE Project supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development of Canada, and she was involved in the initial implementation of the Growing in Rural Multigrade Schools in Peru – CREER Project.
