Obesity is a rapidly growing public health issue worldwide. However, evidence of the relationship between the progression of obesity and the development of non-communicable diseases in Peru is limited.
The Young Lives Longitudinal Study will present the advaces of its Study of Obesity, Nutrition, Genes and Social factors (SONGS), which aims to introduce new empirical perspectives to understand the factors that explain obesity in young people and its possible impacts in not-communicable diseases.
SONGS is coordinated internationally by the University of Reading and involves researchers from GRADE, University of Oxford, Universidad Pedro Ruiz Gallo and the Institute for Nutritional Research. The study will be funded of CONCYTEC through its executing agency FONDECYT.
