The Group for the Analysis of Development (GRADE) held the International Webinar Governance of Water and Mining in Latin America, on Wednesday, August 26. The event aims to discuss the problems of mining and water in the region based on the findings of a two-year research project on water governance in territories with large-scale mining in Latin America.
The virtual event will be divided into two parts. After the opening remarks by Ana Carolina González (Ford Foundation) and Gerardo Damonte (GRADE), the session Plural Governance and Community Water Monitoring will take place. The presentation will be in charge of the researchers Astrid Ulloa (UNAL) and Julieta Godfrid (UNSAM), followed by a discussion undertake by María Cecilia Roa (UNIANDES), Teresa Oré (PUCP) and Gabriela Merlisky (UBA).
Minutes later, the session Inclusive governance and land use change will be held. The exhibition will be in charge of GRADE’s researchers, Gerardo Damonte and Manuel Glave, followed by the comments from Jenny Ortiz (CINEP), Francisco Peña (COLSAN) and Patricia Urteaga (PUCP). The chair of the event will be the GRADE’s researcher, Eduardo Zegarra.
